To celebrate loud shirt day, we had some special guests come in to show us how worthy the cause is.

Amazeme

We had a great time out at Amazeme last week. There was so much to do and only one day to fit it all in, but one of the big highlights was the good old fashioned sack racing.

Creative Time

We have been spending 20 min after lunch each day getting creative, and the results have been rather music.

Steamers visit the TLC

The BOP Steamers came in for a visit, great timing as we are doing a leadership inquiry this term

Art expo

Our learning center has turned into an expo for the night, feel free to come on down from 3pm till 6pm tonight and check out some of our students art projects

Teiyu pops in for a visit

Teiyu came in this morning to share his culture and lifestyle. The students were engaged and fascinated by his humor and experiences.

While the school were taking a look through our new learning, Kevin kept the beats rolling for our musical assembly.

We had our first lesson in the new building today, and the students produced some great introduction speeches in chinese.

1-Perspective Art

We have been exploring the conventions of 3D drawing, through our inquiry into 1-Point perspective art. It has been great to see so many students who did not think of themselves as capable of drawing, feeling like competent and capable artists.

Exploring and expressing our cultural Identity

• We will be looking at what cultural identity is, and what it means to belong to a culture.
• What is whariki, and what makes the symbolism of a whariki so similar to ourselves and our whanau group.
• Students will be choosing the cultures that we identify with the most, and then creating a whariki strand that represents what that culture means to us by drawing icons and symbols that represent our culture.
• Once we have completed this, we will combine them to make a group whariki, so there will be 8 whariki in total.
