Exploring and expressing our cultural Identity
- We will be looking at what cultural identity is, and what it means to belong to a culture.
- What is whariki, and what makes the symbolism of a whariki so similar to ourselves and our whanau group.
- Students will be choosing the cultures that we identify with the most, and then creating a whariki strand that represents what that culture means to us by drawing icons and symbols that represent our culture.
- Once we have completed this, we will combine them to make a group whariki, so there will be 8 whariki in total.
